Looking for a low maintenace house plant?

I recommend that my clients use live plants in their homes when possible.  An easy one we have found and love is the “ZZ” plant.  It’s perfect for second homes or for those who do not have a green thumb!  We love its shiny green leaves and beautiful shape.  It survives in low light and can go up to two months at a time without water.  How easy can it get?!

Zamioculcas, Common name “Zanzibar Gem” or “ZZ”

An Eat-In Kitchen With Elegance

You often see built-in seating (known as a banquette) in a kitchen or breakfast area.  Typically they work well in a corner or tucked into a window surrounded by built-ins.  They can add warmth and character to a room, eliminate clutter,  as well as add architectural detail.  They can also be helpful when space is limited or in a high-traffic area when more clearance is needed.

Why Add Draperies?

Some interior rooms seem to SCREAM for draperies – too many hard edges in the room – stone, wood, tile, glass, granite. Many times I enter a room with a client who asks, “what can be done to make the room look more finished?”

I reply, “add draperies!”

This bedroom looks complete with full length panels on either side of the bed.
