One, Two, Three…”Will It Move With Me?”

The upholstered furniture in their starter home found new life after being recovered.

One, Two, Three…three houses later and the furniture still works. It began in a client’s first home. The living room needed updating with a completely new color scheme. Slipcovering the sofa and recovering the club chairs in soft blues and greens gave the room a fresh new look. As soon as the furniture was installed, our client moved into a new home on the opposite side of town. The new living room was larger so additional furniture was needed. We added two Hickory Chair spool chairs, larger end tables and new lamps. By selecting furniture that will “move with you”, my clients were able to use all their furniture in three separate homes.

To The Orient And Back Again

I do love an oriental print. They have never really gone out of style, but recently I’ve noticed a lot of re-colored and re-interpreted oriental prints that are truly stunning.

They are classic yet fun and can add lots of personality to any space.  Here are just a few I’ve seen recently!

Multi color prints add drama to accent chairs.

Solid backgrounds with a white oriental pattern add interest without overpowering a room. 

From wallpaper to pillows, asian-inspired patterns add personality to any room!

Finding Your Inspiration on Houzz

With the beginning of each new year, many of us set goals. Maybe you have some goals of how you’d like to update, renovate, or remodel in 2016, but don’t know where to get started?

It used to be that clients came to us with magazines and clippings that inspired them for their project. While these are still great resources for ideas and inspiration, many of our clients are now getting inspiration via the internet.  One of the best tools that out there is Houzz.com.  They have millions of architect and designer photos that you can look through by style, color, room, and keywords.  Similar to a Pinterest board, Houzz enables our clients to organize their favorite images into categories via “Ideabooks” that can be shared with us to facilitate collaboration on their project.
