Everyone Loves A Makeover

IMG_0520-1Have we really been working on this together for almost 30 years?

My client and I had a laugh over how time has flown and how trends have changed.  Considering an extensive (and overdue) makeover, we traveled from room to room as we inventoried each piece of furniture, recounting which year and which house each piece was purchased.  Sofa from the ’80′s.  Chairs from the ’90′s.  You get the idea.

A New Twist On A Classic House

I was delighted to get the call that a client of mine wanted to refresh some of the rooms in her house.  Fortunately, she has wonderful furniture pieces and wanted to reuse all of them.  We just needed an updated color scheme, fabrics and rugs.

In the living room, we decided to remove the oriental rug and replaced it with a textured sisal.  What a difference it made!  We chose a lighter wall color and more neutral fabrics with punches of color in small amounts.  The result – A totally different space.

The Sunroom Before…

We traded the black walls and carpet for a much lighter palette.   New, comfy club chairs are the perfect spot for relaxing.  The vinyl upholstered ottomans add a punch of color while being a practical choice.  They are perfect when our clients want to kick up their feet and serve double-duty as seating when they have guests.

The Den Before…

IMG_1164The lightening and brightening continued in the den.  A few coats of paint on the wood paneled walls made a huge impact in this room.  A new sofa, beautifully embroidered pillows and fresh, new upholstery on her club chairs were just what this room needed.

Empty Nesters Gain “Grown Up” Bedrooms

Before - Bedroom GRecently a client contacted us wanting to update the bedrooms in her home. She and her husband are now empty nesters and it was definitely time to transform these rooms from the childhood bedrooms to more “grown up” guest rooms. She wanted to keep all of her existing furniture – mostly inherited traditional pieces.  The childhood paraphernalia was boxed up and old toys donated.

New coverlets, draperies, lamps and chair fabrics did a lot to transform these two guest rooms into elegant accommodations.
