What’s In Your Closet?

Now this client's guests have a convenient and beautiful half bath.

While restoring a late 1700s house in downtown Charleston, we came across a common problem but found a unique solution.

One of the bedrooms did not have easy access to a bathroom for their overnight guests – not particularly convenient!  We worked with their architect, Glenn Keyes, and came up with the perfect idea to help solve this problem.  A “bath closet.”

Living With Pets

This Malabar Grove is a pretty but practical way to keep Mopsy from shedding on the living room chair.

Our pets.  They invade our homes and take up residence in our hearts.  We prefer their company over people at times when unconditional love is what we crave.  But we also love and care for our possessions – and spend a great deal of money creating a beautiful home.  Can fine things and animals co-exist peacefully?  And can it be done with style?  And does anyone know why pets gravitate to the most expensive items in the house?  Keeping the house looking neat while letting your pets make themselves at home is a challenge.

What’s In Your Backyard?

The fireplace was inserted in the garage opening.  Openings for ventilation were covered with custom iron grilles.

This was my garage.  You know the kind.  The ones that have never held a car – only the junk that accumulates (and multiplies) over time.  Boxes of nothing important.  Poorly organized yard equipment and a variety of weekend warrior supplies.  Always daydreaming, always in search of another never-to-be-completed project, I would stare at the beamed ceiling, old brick walls, proximity to the patio and think…this space was way too cool to waste on paint cans.
