Villa – First Impressions

Entry – Before

At the Villa we recently completed in Dallas the front doors open directly into a spacious living area surrounded by archways and columns on three sides and a wall of windows looking out on the courtyard on the fourth side.  The actual space for a furniture grouping is naturally centered on the fireplace, but the room also incorporates adjoining walls, hallways and a beautiful curved staircase that needed to be considered in the overall plan.

Artwork – The Finishing Touch

The wall by the porch door is the straight ahead as you open the front door.  So we new this needed a statement piece.  We decided to go with this mono-chromatic abstact painting that reminded us of all the big trees right outside in the park next to the condo.

Many of you have seen the recent pictures of the condo we completed in the Upstate and heard that we are headed to Dallas this month for another big installation.

Artwork is one of the biggest design details that can pull together a project. We have all kinds of resourses for artwork, but recently we’ve been working a lot with our travelling dealers.  They scope out artists in the Southeast then bring us a variety of styles, price ranges, and sizes to look through.

One of the most fun things I get to do as a designer is work with clients who have beautiful taste. All of us have our own style and special objects we like to collect. Modern, casual, traditional, formal – each person’s home should reflect their loves and personality.

The attention to details like trims and accessories in the den makes this an elegant and functional room and set the tone for the rest of this traditional home.
