Belgium – Inspiration Everywhere

Everywhere I go, but especially when I travel, I see things that inspire me – clothing, flowers, colors, buildings. I can’t help but notice them. It’s part of a designer’s mind that never turns off.

On a recent trip to Belgium, I was struck by how many old European architectural elements are still relevant for today’s homes.

What’s In Your Backyard Now?

What’s in your backyard now?  Probably snow.  And while kids of all ages enjoy the winter break, we look back at an old blog.  And really look forward to a warm spring.

This was my garage.  You know the kind.  The ones that have never held a car – only the junk that accumulates (and multiplies) over time.  Boxes of nothing important.  Poorly organized yard equipment and a variety of weekend warrior supplies.  Always daydreaming, always in search of another never-to-be-completed project, I would stare at the beamed ceiling, old brick walls, proximity to the patio and think…this space was way too cool to waste on paint cans.

The Ultimate Upgrade

When my client approached me about renovating their basement, we had to make a few important decisions. What is the ultimate purpose of the room? Knowing what furniture would be used was the determining factor in their decision. My client wanted to incorporate their existing pool table, an antique pinball machine and one, possibly two, poker tables. The intended results: the Ultimate Man Cave – upgraded!
