Using Artwork to Inspire a Design Scheme
October 1, 2015 | Posted by: Carol Hamilton

When I begin a room scheme, often I find inspiration from artwork the client loves. This particular framed watercolor of a Venice canal is not only beautiful, but also happens to have many colors that are popular this fall. It is a good starting point because the taupes, yellows, and greens can set a simple backdrop, letting the accent colors and patterns really pop on the pillows, accessories, and small furniture.

Venice is a city filled with inspiration. Interestingly, four of our design staff have visited this vibrant Italian city in the past two years. Called by some the “City of Canals,” every corner, every turn reveals a new sight that is magical. The age, color, and light add so much character to this city!

Venice? Oh, yes. We do love.
