When To Use An Antique Rug

When it comes to oriental rugs, I always prefer the look and feel of an antique.  However, it’s not always possible to find the correct color, style, or size – especially when you need a large one, as shown here.

The interior of this Charleston parlor (featured in Fall/Winter 2012 Elegant Homes), with it’s beautifully restored moldings, paneling, and antique glass windows, needed furnishings that would complement, not compete, for attention.  A lengthy renovation afforded me the time to have a custom rug made for the room.  I wanted it to appear as if it could have always been with the house and a simple faded Oushak design achieved that goal.

#TBT Throwback Thursday!

As professional, trained designers, our team takes great pride in producing timeless, classic work that remains in style over the years.  We certainly understand how important this concept is to our clients.

Our work is shown in these before and after photos from the Camden Designer Showhouse in…..1992!  The room is just as beautiful today as it was 22 years ago.  Perhaps we would change a few accessories, maybe a few colors, but not a lot.

The Before…

The After…

Timeless.  Classic.

This is what we strive to achieve in our work everyday.

Ahhhh…France!

France is a fabulous country to view art, appreciate architecture, and wonder over spectacular views! For an art major such as I was, my recent trip there was truly a wonderful experience. The chateaux, the cathedrals, the art museums, and the statues were glorious – not to mention the Eiffel tower in Paris…and the French wine!

The chateaux of the Loire Valley offered unending inspiration. Chambord, a hunting chateau in central France was used by kings in the 1500′s. It was breathtaking!
