Villa – First Impressions

At the Villa we recently completed in Dallas the front doors open directly into a spacious living area surrounded by archways and columns on three sides and a wall of windows looking out on the courtyard on the fourth side.  The actual space for a furniture grouping is naturally centered on the fireplace, but the room also incorporates adjoining walls, hallways and a beautiful curved staircase that needed to be considered in the overall plan.

Ahhhh…France!

France is a fabulous country to view art, appreciate architecture, and wonder over spectacular views! For an art major such as I was, my recent trip there was truly a wonderful experience. The chateaux, the cathedrals, the art museums, and the statues were glorious – not to mention the Eiffel tower in Paris…and the French wine!

The chateaux of the Loire Valley offered unending inspiration. Chambord, a hunting chateau in central France was used by kings in the 1500′s. It was breathtaking!

Pulling Together Bedrooms and Baths

Wallpapers can add a finishing touch to any room, but especially work well in pulling together bedrooms and baths.

We recently finished a home in the Upstate which demonstrates this well.  In all the main living spaces we painted the walls, allowing artwork, furniture, and accessories to stand out. In the bathrooms and the master bedroom, the clients’ wanted to create environments with a little extra luxury and beauty. We decided that wallpapers would be the perfect treatment to make the bathroom walls sparkle. Of course the large open mirrors, lighting, and granite also help these bathrooms shine.

The ground paper in the master bedroom adds warmth and texture to this large space, while the stripe paper in the master bathroom accentuates the high ceilings found throughout the condo.
