Finding the Perfect Stone For Your Kitchen or Bath
March 26, 2015 | Posted by: Karen Menge, ASID

I had a fun day in Charlotte on Tuesday going to make stone countertop selections with a client.  When it comes to choosing a countertop, the conversation is always about whether to use granite or marble.

There are so many more color options with the marbles that I always tend to like them better.  But, it’s hard to beat the look of clean, white Calcutta Gold…always a favorite!

Quartzite…

Now, there is a third option that is very popular – Quartzite.  Quartzite is often confused with quartz, but it is not the same.  This material is stronger than marble, although not quite as tough as granite.  Quartzite is a good countertop option for a kitchen or bath.  It comes in beautiful, soft colors which I tend to gravitate towards.  For this client’s project, we were focused on searching for neutrals.  But, this green caught my eye!

 Exotics…

Then, if you are really brave, here a few exotics we saw.  I’m not quite sure where I would use them, but they are amazing pieces of stone!

Our Selection…

Aren’t you curious to see what we chose???  Quartzite!  My client and I found the perfect slab for her kitchen renovation.   We love it with the fun pop of color in her backsplash tile, too!Quartz 5.jpgsmall-001
