Fifty Shades. The Sequel.

Having just returned from this years trip, I am happy to report that Nantucket is just as blue and just as beautiful.

A few years ago, I chronicled my honeymoon in Paris by exploring the many shades of green I happened to see at every turn. It’s not what I started out to do, it just seemed that every thing I was drawn to-the shutters, subway tile, window mullions-were all beautiful shades of green.  They were all just as current as the day they were done and can still be used in many ways today. It was a joy to see and to share what I found.

On a recent trip to Nantucket to work and play, I thought it might be fun to do it all again. But as you can imagine, the prevalent color of that beautiful coastal island is not green, but blue. The cool air gives a little jolt as you exit the plane ( wasn’t it just 98 degrees three hours ago?), but wraps you up in salt air and soft blue before your luggage rolls down the ramp. Finally, as a Southerner, you understand the existence of summer cashmere.

There are all sorts of lovely shades- mixed with weathered grey shingles, crisp white trim, pink climbing roses and even my favorite greens. Here are a few of my favorites from the trip.
