Pulliam Morris Interiors Receives Best Of Houzz 2014 Award!

Annual Survey and Analysis of 16 Million Monthly Users Reveals Top-Rated Building, Remodeling and Design Professionals

Pulliam Morris Interiors of Columbia, SC has been awarded “Best Of Houzz” by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design. The 52-year old design firm was chosen by the more than 16 million monthly users that comprise the Houzz community.

The Best Of Houzz award is given in two categories: Customer Satisfaction and Design. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 16 million monthly users on Houzz, known as “Houzzers,” who saved more than 230 million professional images of home interiors and exteriors to their personal ideabooks via the Houzz site, iPad/iPhone app and Android app.

“As designers, we look at things differently. A well-designed space should make you want to linger long after your business is done,” said Karen Pulliam Menge, ASID of Pulliam Morris Interiors. The 14-person company, led by partners Carol Hamilton, Karen Pulliam Menge, ASID, and Pam Plowden Rawson, ASID, is known throughout the Southeast for professional residential and commercial design. Pulliam Morris Interiors is also known for having one of the area’s largest professionally trained design teams, top-notch studio space and an expanded digital presence.

“Houzz provides homeowners with the most comprehensive view of a home improvement professional on the Web, empowering them to find and hire the right professional to execute their vision,” said Liza Hausman, vice president of community for Houzz. “We’re delighted to recognize Pulliam Morris Interiors among our “Best Of” professionals for design as judged by our community of homeowners and design enthusiasts who are actively remodeling and decorating their homes.”

What’s in My Bag?

We rarely make a trip to Atlanta without visiting ADAC for some inspiration and to pick up new samples to bring back to our showroom.  While in town for Market earlier this month, our designers took advantage of some time at ADAC by selecting fabrics, wallpapers, and rugs for our shelves along the way.

What’s in my bag?

I brought back some beautiful embroidered linens, bright prints, textured solids, and some fun new wallpapers. Color is back and lively! Enjoy a sampling from my bags. I always feel refreshed and inspired when I leave the design center. Creative juices flowing. My favorite part of the job!

Still Having Fun…40 Years Later!

When I looked at the calendar and realized it was my turn to write a blog post, I was stunned.  Oh my gosh!  January 2014.  My 40th  anniversary at Pulliam Morris.  40 YEARS!!  How could it be?  How has the time passed so quickly?  I can’t possibly have worked here that long.  Yet, here I am…getting ready to start another year and making long range plans.

There is a lot to be said for 40 years of experience.  I have had wonderful and varied projects in my career.  Large and small.  Simple and complicated.  Some lasted for three years and some a very short time.  Many are out of town jobs.  Some of my best experiences have been with other architects and builders who all bring their own expertise.  Together, we form a team to complete the job at hand.  The clients I have worked with are always the best part.  New friends.

I began my career as an assistant to my uncle, Jack Pulliam, and one of the first houses I worked on was for the Baker family.  The house was sold recently, and just before Christmas, I met with the new owners of that same house to begin planning a renovation.  40 years later, and I am back to the beginning.  I can’t think of a better way to kick off the next 40!  It sure has been fun.  Looking forward to more!!
