Can This Bathroom Be Saved?

Moving from a large home to a smaller high-rise condo is a physical and emotional hurdle for any client.  And when faced with spaces like the one here, a client begins to wonder – can this tiny space really work?  Can it feel current?  Was “downsizing” a good idea in the first place?  The answer is yes!

A Happy Beach Place – Expanding for a Growing Family

My clients decided to update their beach house sitting room for their expanding family by adding a new bathroom off this room and a sofa bed for their grandchildren to sleep.  Painting the stained walls and cabinets along with the lively new color scheme changed the look of the room.  We covered the sofa in Sunbrella fabric so that it will withstand the fun times their grandbabies will have in this room.  It’s a happy space to be in now!

The French doors were moved over to accommodate the door to the new bath.  The wainscoting ties in with the painted wood panelled walls in the sitting room.

Between the new sofa bed in the sitting room and the four bunk beds in a nearby bedroom, all the grandchildren have a place of their own!

Quiet, please.

“Just so you know upfront, I hate wallpaper!”

So it can go when meeting with a new client – discovering their likes and dislikes, finding common ground and exploring design possibilities.  Amusing myself, I often think – well, you just haven’t met the right wallpaper yet.  My next thought goes more toward, wow, what did wallpaper ever do to you?
