“Here’s looking at you, Kid” is Humphrey Bogart’s famous line from the movie Cassablanca.
This week, for the blog, I want to explore what’s looking at you from your wall – Mirrors!
Mirrors are a wonderful way to reflect and brighten a room. A mirror can provide depth and interest on a solid wall.
This unusual rectangular starburst mirror creates a focal point at the end of the Pulliam Morris office long hall.
Several things to consider when selecting a mirror are size and shape. Also, think about how the mirror is being used. Is it for decoration only, or do you need to see your reflection clearly in it? As some ask the question - “Do you want form or function?” Though, here at Pulliam Morris, we believe that we can achieve both!
FORM — The left mirror is distressed and adds character to a wall, but for example would not be a good choice over a vanity where you need to put on makeup and see your reflection clearly. The modern, funky mirror on the right is more of a decorative piece than a functional mirror.
FUNCTION — These clear-glass mirrors work well in a master bath as they allow a clear reflection. Mounting them on top of a mirrored wall makes the space seem larger and more elegant.
Another consideration is material, with frames made of wood, iron, and even mirror, there are so many options!
The mirror shown on the left has an exquisite open gold frame, while the mirror shown on the right is tailored with a mirror frame and slight arch at the top.
This round mirror is a winner! With gold and iron finishes and a large clear piece of mirror, it’s a great combination of form and function all-in-one!
